Electrics and hybrids are where it’s at, at the Los Angeles Auto Show this year.
The Show opened on Friday for public audiences. BMW (ETR: BMW) is showcasing its i3 electric and the i8 plug-in hybrid, and these concept cars will go on sale in 2014, reports the International Business Times.
Meanwhile, Toyota’s (NYSE: TM) Lexus has the RX mid-size SUV, which comes in a hybrid model. Then there’s Ford’s (NYSE: F) Fiesta, featuring a 3-cylinder engine and 197 horsepower.
Honda displayed the Insight, Civic, and CR-Z hybrids, as well as the Fit electric and Accord plug-in hybrid. Mercedes-Benz is offering the S-class and smaller E-class models, while Porsche (ETR: PAH3) has the Cayenne and Panamera models; these are all among the milder hybrids.
As usual, what goes on display at the LA Auto Show tends to foreshadow the near future of the auto industry. The show is being held at the LA Convention Center and runs until Dec. 9.
